Bali is one of the 34 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia and located at the western most of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. Bali has an area of 5.632.86 km2 and is divided into 8 regencies and 1 city in which each regency is under the authority of the Major. Those regencies are subdivided into districts, municipalities and villages (Banjar).

The island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's Hindu, 92.29% of Bali population adhered to Balinese Hinduism with the population of 3.891.428 (as of 2010).

The climate is hot and humid with an average temperature of 28 degrees C. The rainy season lasts from October to March and percentage of humidity fluctuates between 75% and 80% depending on the season. Winds blow from the east during the dry season and from the west during rainy season.
